Jubliant Jonjoe Kenny has been recalling the moment he stepped up to net European Championship glory for England Under-17s in their penalty shootout win over Holland.

The Everton defender slotted home to see off the Dutch in Wednesday's final, securing the trophy for the Young Lions for the second time in five years.

"It hasn't really sunk in yet," Kenny told evertontv as he popped by Goodison Park to show off his medal. "I woke up this morning and I still can't really get over it.

"Walking up to take the penalty, I was confident to be honest. I knew where I was going to go, so I just thought 'stick with that spot whatever' and if the goalkeeper saves it, he saves it.

"For the past two weeks we'd been practicing penalties in training, so I was confident I could do it and buzzing I could get the winner."

Blues midfielder Ryan Ledson was also a key part of John Peacock's squad for the tournament, skippering the side throughout.

And Kenny added: "It's massive for us to win it. I was out injured for 10 or 11 weeks and I didn't think I'd be getting into that European Championship squad in truth.

"My aim was just to get back fit and get back playing, so when I found out I was in the squad I was over the moon.

"With everything Everton and my mum and dad have done for me, I just wanted to make them proud. And getting the winning penalty just tops it off to be honest with you."

Watch the video above now to hear both Kenny and Ledson reflect on their European Championship experience, the joy of winning the tournament and their belief they would go all the way^.

The pair also discuss their celebrity backing via Twitter and how they used the social media site to keep track of Everton Under-18s' Academy League final win over Manchester City.
