What The Papers Say - 18 May

Sunday's newspapers link Everton with a summer move for Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

The England international is said to be considering his future at the Etihad and could become available after the World Cup.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle are among the other clubs reported to be on alert, according to the Sunday People.

The same newspaper again speculate Chelsea will make a £12million move for young Blues defender John Stones.

The Independent on Sunday link the Toffees with another Manchester City midfielder - this time former Blue Jack Rodwell.

The Times, meanwhile, say that Stones and Liverpool full-back John Flanagan will travel to Brazil even if they don't make Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad.

Locally, the Liverpool Echo carry quotes from Roberto Martinez who says he is excited about the part Darron Gibson can play at Goodison Park next season.

The midfielder has been sidelined with a knee injury since September.

Ian Doyle offers his review of the Blues' season while former skipper Kevin Ratcliffe tips Martinez to end the Club's long wait for silverware.

The Echo speak to Everton Ladies striker Nikita Parris about being handed the coveted number nine jersey.

And in Lee Carsley's Sunday column, the former midfielder says the Blues can be a threat in the Europa League because no opposition will fancy playing at Goodison under the floodlights.
