Tuesday’s Daily Mirror links Everton with a summer swoop for Manchester City midfielder James Milner.

Milner has one year left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and the paper claims that Roberto Martinez is weighing up a potential move for the England midfielder, who has only made 11 Premier League starts this season.

Ross Barkley’s England chances are again discussed in the national and local newspapers.

The Liverpool Echo and Independent contain quotes from Martinez, who says that while Barkley is ‘something special’, too much expectancy should not be placed upon the youngster’s shoulders if he is named in the World Cup squad.

The Echo also covers yesterday’s unveiling of the Dixie Dean Wall of Fame at Goodison Park and Ian Snodin, writing in his column, says he would like Everton to move for Swansea frontman Wilfried Bony if they are unable to agree a permanent deal for Romelu Lukaku.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star and Daily Mirror speculate that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making an approach for Martinez to become their new manager.
