Barkley: One Of My Best
Midfielder discusses his City strike and playing in Europe.
Ross Barkley admits his stunning goal against Manchester City ranks among his best.
The midfielder struck a curling 34-yard strike past England teammate Joe Hart to put Everton ahead on Saturday, before the Citizens turned the game around to win 3-2.
Nevertheless, the goal capped another impressive performance from the Blues' Academy graduate, who battled with Yaya Toure in the centre of the park.
"I'd have to say it's up there with my Newcastle goal," he told evertontv in his man of the match interview.
"It was past Joe Hart and it was good for it to be at Goodison as well."
Barkley's 29 starts and nine substitute appearances have formed a fine breakthrough campaign for the 20-year-old.
And with Europa League football now confirmed, he is looking forward to the atmosphere he experienced as a ballboy at Goodison in 2008.
He continued: "It's a fantastic achievement. [Roberto Martinez] set out to get European football when he came here and that's what he's done.
"It'll be good for the supporters playing in Europe too.
"I was here a few years ago and the atmosphere on those nights is fantastic and it's great for the fans."
