Martinez Credits 'Goodison Effect'
Manager says fans played key role in Arsenal win.
Manager Roberto Martinez has hailed the 'Goodison effect' after supporters helped roar Everton to Sunday's vital victory over Arsenal.
A racous home crowd witnessed the Blues dismantle their top four rivals, with Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku both netting before Mikel Arteta's hour-mark own goal.
Martinez later described his side's performance as "perfect", before insisting much of the motivation came tumbling down from the stands.
Asked for his thoughts on the 3-0 triumph, the Blues boss told evertontv: "I think it was down to the atmosphere that the fans created. I've said it before that the Goodison effect is important for us. We are very proud of our fans, of what they created today.
"Then, the performance of the players is one for everyone at Everton to be extremely, extremely proud of.
"I think it was the work of the last 10 months in evidence. We were perfect in everything that we did, the tactical awareness of every player was incredible and to play eye to eye with a team like Arsenal, who have been setting standards in European football for many years, is an incredible example of how our young players are developing and how special the senior players are at our football club."
