Wayne Rooney announced himself on the Premier League stage in famous fashion when Everton triumphed over Arsenal in October 2002.

16-years-old at the time, the academy graduate scored one of the most memorable Goodison goals of the modern era as the Blues secured an outstanding 2-1 win.

Arsenal had taken an early lead after Freddie Ljungberg took full advantage when the ball squirmed free inside the penalty area.

The Blues were level 15 minutes later, however, as Tomasz Radzinski profited when Lee Carsley’s shot rebounded back off the post.

That equaliser paved the way for Rooney to grab the headlines late on, as his curling right foot effort in stoppage time beat David Seaman to bring the Gunners’ 30-match unbeaten run in the Premier League to a crashing halt.

Ann StoodleyHave to say I'm not a Wayne Rooney fan, but that was one pretty amazing goal.
