Boss Praises 'Special' Ross
Boss says first goal could only be scored by a 'special' player.
Roberto Martinez hailed Ross Barkley's ‘special' solo strike after Everton beat Newcastle 3-0.
The 20-year-old midfielder set the Blues on the way to their best away win of the season with his length-of-the-pitch effort.
And afterwards Martinez said it was the type of goal which can only be scored by a ‘special' player, while also reserving praise for Barkley's overall display.
He told evertontv: "It takes a special type of player. I think it was a unique goal that only Ross can score. With the technical ability and the physicality that you need to travel that distance, it is a unique trait of Ross.
"From that point on it could have been an ‘easy' performance for him but he worked as hard as ever and he did his role for the team well and that shoes the focus that he has."
Barkley's showing was just one component of what the Blues boss agreed was one of the best away showings of the campaign.
He continued: "I think we have played well away from home many times. The difference today was the real focus we had in both boxes; to be able to defend in the manner we did and then at the other end to be a real threat.
"At Stamford Bridge and White Hart Lane (earlier this season) the performances were good but you need to reflect that in the scoreline. Taking our chances today was the difference."
