Boss Keeping Forwards Fresh
Martinez happy to have options heading into crucial run-in.
Roberto Martinez has underlined the importance of keeping his attacking players fresh.
The Blues ran out 2-1 victors against Cardiff City on Saturday, with Gerard Deulofeu providing the opener and substitute Aiden McGeady playing a pivotal part in a dramatic late winner for Seamus Coleman.
However, Deulofeu was taken off after 62 minutes, just moments after his deflected strike put Everton in front.
And with the 20-year-old winger only recently back from a hamstring injury, Martinez revealed an hour-mark withdrawal was always part of the plan.
"He had an hour to score and he left it really late!" the Toffees boss joked. "I think it's important Gerard keeps building back match fitness.
"He got an hour today and it's important that we keep every forward player fresh.
"I'm looking at the next 10 games and players like Gerard and Aiden McGeady are starting to be themselves and physically they're ready to perform.
"We've got options in Kevin Mirallas, Ross Barkley, Leon Osman, Steven Naismith and Romelu Lukaku as well.
"I'm going to make sure everyone has playing time and we develop a good moment of form for them, because it's important we have freshness and a real edge about us in the next 10 games.
"I'm happy Gerard's starting to be match fit again. When he gets in those one-on-one situations he's starting to have a real freshness about himself. I'm sure he saw my intentions [with the substitutes warming up on the touchline] and he finished his display with a goal."
