Sheedy's Youth Cup Preview
Under-18s boss discusses squad selection ahead of Blades tie.
Kevin Sheedy says Everton Under-18s are well prepared for Monday's Youth Cup contest at Sheffield United.
The young Blues head to Bramall Lane for the 7pm kick-off to fight for a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Several of Sheedy's squad featured for the Under-21s one week ago, while the majority of the starting line-up from the recent Liverpool Senior Cup are also eligible for action against the Blades.
It leaves the Blues legend with a full group to assess before selecting his side.
Speaking to evertontv after Thursday's 2-1 win at Marine, Sheedy said: "It's going to be a tough tie against Sheffield United. Duncan [Ferguson] and I went to watch them. They've got some good individuals that can hurt us if we're not careful.
"We didn't have a big squad to select from [against Marine] so it was an opportunity for some of those who haven't been regulars to show what they could do.
"We'll need to be careful with the legs now - some played in the Under-21s game against Sunderland on Monday in difficult conditions, so it's a case of balancing the training and matches to make sure the players are fresh. It should be a real test for us.
"But at this stage of the season we're in a good position in the league, so we want to finish off the season well. We've got to maintain those standards and hopefully continue winning games."
