Lacina Traore has today given his first interview as an Everton player.

The giant forward, on loan from AS Monaco, was unveiled on a busy morning at the Club's Finch Farm training ground.

Roberto Martinez also spoke to the media ahead of Saturday's game against Aston Villa, before Traore sat down to face the cameras - including those of evertontv.

Below is a full transcript of what the Ivorian had to say.

Lacina, welcome to Everton. How does it feel to have joined?

It feels great. Everyone has really welcomed me and I feel part of the family already. I am very happy to be here.

Tell us a bit about the move...

It all came about very quickly, quite last-minute. I had a choice to make and this [Everton] has been my choice. When I first found out that Monaco wanted to put me out on loan, I wasn’t sure what destination it was going to be. When I heard that it was going to be the English league, I was very happy. I am delighted to be here at Everton. I had always dreamed of playing in this league and now I have the chance. It is a league that attracts lots of top players. So many big names have played here and it gets a lot of media attention across the world. It’s a dream to be here.

There were other clubs interested. Was playing for Roberto Martinez a factor?

I've always been impressed by the playing style of the coach and I think it's one I can adapt to and settle into more as I do my bit to help the Club progress themselves. It is possible, for sure, that Everton can get back into Europe. There were other clubs interested in me but Everton were there and I knew that they had a good chance of getting into European football next season. What I liked about Everton was their style of play. I like the technical, skilful play which is played here. I also looked at where they were in the league and they are quite well off for points. I’m not going to say who else was in for me because the most important thing is that I chose Everton. I am standing by this decision and being at this club.

Did you speak to Arouna Kone before deciding to join?

I spoke to Arouna. He's like a big brother to me and is a teammate in the national side. He was very positive. He said I would fit in well here, that they play good football and the training facilities are excellent. I've come here and he's not wrong. Everyone has been very welcoming and made me feel good about my arrival.

What has the manager said to you?

He's just said to me to work really hard. I'm pleased that he's shown confidence in me. I believe in him and have confidence in what he says. It's all about now bringing my little bit of experience to the Club and helping as much as I can.

What can the fans expect from you? And how long do you think it will be before you're fully fit?

First and foremost, in terms of what I can bring to the side, I'm a striker and it's all about scoring goals. If you're a striker and not scoring goals, you're not doing your job. I am here to work hard. It is important that I manage to get some minutes on the field. I want to be able to perform at my absolute top level if I can. I am obviously aware, too, that the World Cup is coming up and all players that could be involved have that in the back of their minds. I can’t wait to show what I can do. I want to go out and do my best on the field. As for my fitness, I would say I'll be back in one week or, at worst, two.
