Roberto Martinez has revealed that Aiden McGeady could make his Everton debut in Monday evening’s match against West Bromwich Albion.

The Republic of Ireland international joined from Spartak Moscow on Saturday and has spent the last week training alongside his new teammates in Tenerife.

McGeady is not yet in peak physical condition but Martinez has been impressed enough with 27-year-old’s fitness levels to include him in his squad for the trip to the Hawthorns.

"Aiden was able to spend 24 hours a day with everyone in Tenerife, getting to know the staff and the way we worked," Martinez said.

"He's a player who has been de-trained in the last few weeks because he hasn't been doing any group work. It's been like a mini pre-season for him and now he is ready to have an impact on the team straightaway.

"He will be available [for Monday]. I wouldn't expect him to have 90 minutes but I do feel he is ready to be part of the group."

Martinez also confirmed that Sylvain Distin is set to return to the fold after missing the last three games with a hamstring strain.

However, Ross Barkley will again sit the game out as he continues to recover from a fractured toe.

Martinez said that it is still too early to ascertain how long the midfielder will spend on the sidelines.

"Sylvain Distin is fully fit and he trained with the group for the last three sessions, so he is ready for Monday," continued Martinez.

"Ross Barkley has been recovering really well from his fracture but it is still early to know how long it is going to be before he will be available with the squad."

Antolin Alcaraz is another who remains absent, with the Blues boss explaining that the Paraguay defender is still a week away from a returning to fitness.

Jimmy SoerheimSeems like Barca have taken the lead in helping Delboy back, but Everton should have him back now since they are paying good money for him.
