Roberto Martinez has called on Evertonians to help ensure Goodison Park is a venue to be feared in the second half of the 2013/14 campaign.

The Blues have just nine home games left in the Barclays Premier League, starting with Saturday's visit of Chris Hughton's Norwich City.

Martinez's men have recorded six wins and three draws on their own patch so far this term, losing only to Sunderland on Boxing Day.

It's form that has helped them establish a position close to the league's top four and Martinez knows results on home soil will be key if his side are to maintain a charge for European qualification.

Speaking exclusively to evertontv, the Blues boss said: "We've only got nine games left at Goodison in the league and that's reason enough to be as tight as we can as a football club and really embrace those events and enjoy those games, because we know they're going to be difficult.

"Everyone who comes to Goodison, they know that they need to be prepared for a difficult game and we need to make sure we control all the small margins, and we rely on the fans to do that."

Norwich travel to Merseyside 15th in the top-flight standings and without a win in six games.

Martinez's reign began against the Canaries in August when the Spaniard saw his side held to a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.

Hughton's men also earned a late 1-1 draw at Goodison Park last season, having recorded the same scoreline at the stadium in their very first season back in the top flight in 2011/12.

And Martinez added: "Norwich aren't a team who are going to surprise us at all – we know they're very, very well drilled, Chris Hughton organises his teams extremely, extremely well, they've got good individuals and their results maybe haven't been showing what they've been doing.

"I thought their performance against Manchester United at home [on 28 December] was very positive and probably they should have got a positive result out of that. And then they've been able to travel to difficult places and always be competitive and close to getting the three points.

"So we know we're going to have a tough challenge and we'll need to be at our best. We're really looking forward to what's going to be a testing game on Saturday."
