Westley: We're Better Prepared
Stevenage boss relishing Everton rematch.
Stevenage boss Graham Westley has warned his side are better prepared now than when they gave Everton a Capital One Cup scare back in August.
Westley's Boro will once again provide the opposition for the Blues after they were handed an FA Cup trip to Broadhall Way in Sunday's fourth round draw.
The meeting at Goodison Park earlier in the campaign saw Roberto Martinez's men edge past the League One outfit, though it took extra time for the hosts to eke out a narrow 2-1 win.
And while Westley is under no illusions as to the size of the task his side face later this month, he believes they can pose a greater threat on home soil.
"We tested ourselves against them [Everton] at Goodison Park and came up just short over 120 minutes," he said. "That will be good for our confidence but is unlikely to generate complacency on their part.
"The positive is that we will probably be stronger than we were at Goodison, with new signings on board and big players back from injury.
"The only FA Cup question we need to focus on now is 'how do we win'? That is a tough question to answer, but there is an answer to any question if you look hard enough and we will certainly not be intimidated by the challenge, tough though it is."
Everton progressed to the fourth round with a comprehensive 4-0 win over QPR on Saturday, while Stevenage booked their place by upsetting Championship strugglers Doncaster Rovers.
The Blues' victory left Martinez on track to retain a trophy he lifted as Wigan Athletic manager in May last year, and Westley believes the Spaniard will be desperate to lead his new side to glory in the same competition.
He added: "It won't be easy to play against the cup-holding manager or his excellent Everton team. They have some outstanding talent and a cup-holding manager doesn't loosen his grip lightly in my experience."
Ticket news for the FA Cup fourth round trip to Stevenage is expected to be announced on evertonfc.com later this week. The game will be played the weekend of 25/26 January.
