Santa's Special Helper
Leon Osman helps save Christmas at Old Swan primary school.
Everton midfielder Leon Osman was Blue Santa's special helper for the day as the pair turned up to spread some much-needed festive cheer at St Anne's Stanley Primary School in Old Swan.
The school was nominated for the visit by teacher Linda Thompson after she saw Blue Santa's request to be informed of deserving schools on evertonfc.com.
Unavoidable building work to the ageing main building at St Anne's has severely affected Christmas celebrations this year, with the pupils' annual nativity play just one of the festive activities the school has been forced to cancel.
"They've had it tough because of the work that needed to be done to the school - no Christmas dinner, no play - and there was no Christmas spirit at all really," explained Osman, who took with him a raft of Everton gifts and goody bags.
"Santa seemed to cheer the younger kids up and I put a smile on the faces of the older ones, so it was a good day for us and I'm pleased we could do it."
By way of thanks for the England star's visit, the grateful pupils preformed their own 'Everton' rendition of the Elvis Presley hit 'Blue Christmas' and a video capturing the best bits of the afternoon can be seen above^.
