Unsy Makes Diane's Christmas
Club legend Unsworth is the guest at Thursday's Blue Crimbo party.
Mossfield Road in Orrell Park was the fourth port of call for the Blue Crimbo roadshow on Thursday evening as Everton rewarded lifelong supporter Diane Leyland for her unwavering contributions in the local community.
This time it was Goodison Park favourite David Unsworth who was the star guest for the festive celebrations outside the house of the 51-year-old.
Diane’s home had been selected as the latest stop-off point in acknowledgement of her constant support for Everton in the Community.
For several years the mother-of-five has worked voluntarily as a lottery agent for the Club’s official charity, as well as spending her time baking and knitting to provide gifts and prizes for EitC’s raffles and giveaways.
In addition to Unsworth, Blue Santa, Radio Merseyside's Giulia Bould and singer Jennifer Jewell were all in attendance at the latest event.
Unsworth, Everton’s leading Premier League appearance maker and the current assistant coach of the Club’s Under-21s side, signed autographs and posed for photos.
He told evertontv: “It’s been such an enjoyable event. Diane was stunned, amazed and shocked in a great way.
"All her friends and neighbours came out onto the street, so it has been a really nice touch.
“She’s a massive, massive Blue and does all the work possible to help the Club. It’s just nice to be part of something like this – we have made her Christmas tonight."
Speaking about her surprise, Diane said: “I’ve been following the Blue Crimbo parties on Facebook so when I arrived home and saw today’s was at my house I couldn’t believe it.
“David is one of my favourite players from years ago too – I can’t believe he has been in our house having a cup of tea!
“My children are grown up now but I know they have enjoyed it just as much. I absolutely love Everton – this has been brilliant. Thank you so much.”
Look out for more information on the final Blue Crimbo street party on Friday, with hints and clues revealed on the Club's Twitter feed from 10am.
