Everton are linked with a double defensive swoop in Tuesday’s national newspapers.
According to the Daily Mirror, Roberto Martinez is planning a raid for Dundee United teenagers Andrew Robertson and John Souttar.
The article suggests that the Blues could move for the pair in January and then loan them back to the Tannadice club.
The same story is reported in the Daily Record, with the Scottish paper claiming Everton are "ready to act" after receiving sparkling scouting reports, particularly of 19-year-old left-back Robertson.
Elsewhere, the news that Gerard Deulofeu will be missing for "a few weeks" with a hamstring injury is covered in the Daily Express and the Daily Star.
Locally, the Liverpool Echo contains quotes from Toffees boss Martinez, who is hopeful Kevin Mirallas can make a big impression in Saturday’s game against Swansea with Deulofeu sidelined.
The Echo have also analysed Tim Howard’s excellent form this season. The American, along with West Ham United stopper Jussi Jaaskelainen, has kept eight clean sheets in the league so far this term – the highest by any keeper.
The same paper also reports on the first BlueCrimbo street party of the week, which took place yesterday in Bootle and included a surprise visit from Everton legend Duncan Ferguson.
