Award For Howard

Blues stopper collects CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year prize.

Award For Howard

Tim Howard’s role in the USA’s successful World Cup qualifying campaign has earned him the CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year award for 2013.

Howard scooped the accolade after keeping four clean sheets in five of the qualifying victories that Jurgen Klinsmann’s side recorded over the course of the calendar year.

Next year’s tournament in Brazil will be the third World Cup that the 34-year-old has experienced. He was back-up to Kasey Keller in Germany 2006 and played all four of the USA’s matches in South Africa 2010.

Howard won the award ahead of second-placed Raul Gudiño, who helped Mexico’s youth side finish runners up in last summer’s Under-17s World Cup.

Levante’s Costa Rican stopper Keylor Navas finished third.
