Saturday’s papers look ahead to Everton’s match with Crystal Palace later this afternoon.
The Daily Mail reports that Roberto Martinez will play James McCarthy at Selhurst Park today despite the midfielder being one booking away from missing the Merseyside derby.
Another yellow card against the Eagles would rule McCarthy out of the home meeting with Liverpool in two weeks’ time.
A similar story is carried in the Daily Star, with Martinez explaining that the summer signing is still adjusting to life at Everton and that could be one of the reasons behind the number of booking he has accrued so far this season.
In the same report, Martinez also states that Ross Barkley will become a regular goalscorer for Everton. The 19-year-old has two goals to his name this term and the Blues boss says he possesses a ‘unique’ ability to shoot from long-range with both feet.
