Blues Remember

Club salutes those lost in dedicated Remembrance Day fixture

Blues Remember

From the impeccably observed minute of silence, to the generous donations to the Poppy Appeal, Everton paid their respects to those in the Armed Forces as part of the Club’s dedicated Remembrance Day fixture.

While the day itself is not until the 11 November, because this was the Blues’ closest home game it was given over to remembering those who have lost their lives, and those who continue to serve today.

In the Fan Zone, members of Everton in the Community’s Inside Right programme spoke of how the initiative had helped them cope with returning to every day life after serving in the Forces.

Ahead of the game, members of the Army, Navy and Air Force led both sides out of the tunnel, with a wreath laid to mark the memory of those who were lost in conflict.

Both sets of players and supporters then came together to observe an exceptional minute of silence.

The day took on an even more poignant feel with a message from the family of James Greenop, the young Evertonian who tragically passed away recently. In it, they thanked the Everton family for their support throughout their difficult time.
