Everton’s 3-1 defeat at Manchester City is covered heavily in Sunday’s tabloids and broadsheets.
The home side’s second-half penalty was the game’s major talking point and the Sunday People have labelled Pablo Zabeleta’s tumble inside the area as a ‘sack-of-spuds routine'. In the Daily Star Sunday, the decision to penalise Seamus Coleman has also been described as ‘harsh’.
In the player ratings, the Sunday Telegraph and Sunday People highlight Phil Jagielka’s performance, as they both award him seven out of 10 for his display at the Etihad Stadium.
The Sunday People claim that Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will make bids for Leighton Baines in the January transfer window.
Baines is also linked with a switch to Old Trafford in the Mail on Sunday, with the paper reporting that the reigning Premier League champions will offer £15million plus winger Antonio Valencia in January.
Away from matters on the pitch, Roberto Martinez features in the Sunday Mirror as he backs the newspaper’s campaign to help people with mental health disorders.
