Blues To Welcome Armed Forces

Club pledges support to the Tickets For Troops initiative.

Blues To Welcome Armed Forces

Hundreds of servicemen and women will visit Goodison Park this season to watch the Blues in action free of charge after Everton pledged support for the Tickets For Troops initiative.

Kicking off with the home game against Newcastle United, the Club has donated tickets to the military charity for a selection of fixtures this campaign.

Members of the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force can apply for tickets for home games against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 3 November, Norwich City on Saturday 11 January and West Ham United on Saturday 1 March.

The allocation for Monday night’s visit of Newcastle United has already been snapped up by keen Evertonians from the Armed Forces but a discounted ticket programme for the four fixtures is also available for those who are unsuccessful in the Tickets For Troops ballot.

Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “The remarkable work carried out by the Armed Forces deserves to be recognised all year round, so we have dedicated an allocation of tickets for a number of home games throughout the season and look forward to welcoming service personnel through the turnstiles at Goodison,”

Tickets For Troops provides free tickets for sporting, musical and theatrical events to members of the Armed Forces and has had a longstanding partnership with Everton Football Club and the Barclays Premier League since the scheme was set up in 2009.

Over 85,000 football tickets have been donated to the charity over the past four years and last season alone saw in excess of 35,000 football tickets distributed to servicemen and women across the UK.

Men and women who are currently serving or who have been medically discharged since 2001 are able to apply for tickets via the charity’s website, www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.

Tickets For Troops chairman, Lord Marland, said: "The men and women of Her Majesty's Armed Forces are doing such an extraordinary job during these difficult times and it is fantastic that Everton want to demonstrate their support and appreciation in such a generous way."
