Lukaku: I Can't Remember Winner
Striker had to ask medical staff who had put Blues in front.
Romelu Lukaku has admitted he remembers nothing of his matchwinning goal at West Ham United.
The debutant stepped off the bench to nod an 85th-minute decider as the Blues edged a thrilling five-goal battle at Upton Park.
But the Belgian clashed heads with defender Joey O'Brien in the process - leaving him temporarily out cold.
Asked what he could recall of his contribution, Lukaku said: "Nothing. I didn't even realise I'd scored. That was the first thing I asked. I said to the doc, 'Who scored?' and he said, 'you!'. I thanked God because we won and that's the most important thing.
"I remember the cross and I don't remember anything after that," he continued. "I got the knock and then I fell. I don't remember what happened for a couple of seconds but I woke up and they said I'd scored."
Lukaku was delighted to learn of his goalscoring start - and has now set his focus on having an even greater impact going forward.
"I've worked very hard for the past couple of weeks and I want to thank the technical staff because they have worked so hard with me and worked on every aspect - physically and technically - and I think I've adapted very quickly because of that.
"But the road is very long and I have to keep on working like I'm working now."
