Fans Help Gerard Flourish
Boss says supporters' backing is helping Deulofeu prosper.
Roberto Martinez has thanked the Everton fans for helping Gerard Deulofeu flourish at his new home.
The on-loan Barcelona starlet made his first Everton appearance on Wednesday night and impressed against Stevenage, scoring his side's first goal in a 2-1 win.
Deulofeu's compatriot and manager, Martinez, explained that the warm welcome from Blues fans is helping the teenage winger quickly find his feet.
The Blues boss told evertontv: "More than anything it was the relationship with the fans he created straight away that delighted me.
"In the warm-up you could see the fans making him feel at home, and for a young man coming from Catalonia to feel like he did last night was really impressive."
Deulofeu's action against the League One outfit was his first taste of British football and his boss believes he exhibited the correct signs to indicate he can handle its physical nature.
He continued: "His talent has never been questioned. His talent was one of the reasons you would pay money to watch a football team.
"He was sharp, he was incisive and he is getting used to the physicality of the British game, which is what he needs.
"It is important that when he is on the pitch he shows that he is ready, that he is desperate to play and he is desperate to help the team - he did all of those things."
