Wednesday’s Liverpool Echo claims that Manchester United have dropped their interest in Leighton Baines.
Blues boss Roberto Martinez has told the paper that the Premier League champions tabled a ‘final offer’ in June and there have been no further bids since that offer was rejected by the Club.
Also in the Echo, Martinez says that Gerard Deulofeu will be a hit at Goodison Park, although he warns it will take time for the on-loan Barcelona playmaker to acclimatise to the Premier League.
The Daily Mail reports that Newcastle United are reviving their interest in Ajax centre-back Toby Alderweireld who has also been linked with moves to Everton and Norwich this summer.
On the international scene, Ross Barkley’s goal in England Under-21s’ 6-0 win over Scotland Under-21 last night receives widespread coverage.
The Independent, Daily Telegraph, The Times and Daily Express all predict that Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka will both start for England in tonight’s senior international friendly against Scotland at Wembley.
