'Fans Will Help Gerard'
Support of Goodison can aid Deulofeu’s development, says boss.
Roberto Martinez believes Everton's welcoming fanbase can help nurture the special talent of Gerard Deulofeu.
The Barcelona winger made his Blue bow as a late substitute against Real Madrid at the weekend after signing on loan amidst much hype this summer.
And having already felt the embrace of Evertonians in his first few months in charge, Martinez considers the support on Merseyside provides an ideal environment for the youngster's development.
He told evertontv: "We need to be patient as he's a young man, but in the same manner I think we can enjoy his quality.
“You saw a flash of his undoubtedly special talent [against Madrid].
"He's decided to come to Everton and we need to look after him well.
"The warmth of our fans and Goodison will help him to grow, but clearly he's got the talent to help the team and we're really excited about Gerard's progress."
Deulofeu could again feature in the Blues' final US tour fixture - against Valencia on Tuesday evening (9pm in Miami, 2am on Wednesday morning UK time). Click here to purchase evertontv Live's coverage and On Demand playback for £3.99.
