Everton chairman Bill Kenwright says the Blues' presence in the USA is boosting their global profile.

After watching Everton's two friendlies against big name European opposition this week, the Blues supremo has concluded that the club's American fanbase is constantly growing.

New manager Roberto Martinez has seen his side defeat Juventus and push Real Madrid all the way in a narrow 2-1 defeat while on American soil.

Speaking after the Madrid game, the chairman explained his belief that Everton, and in particular Martinez, have been making their mark for their performance on and off the pitch while Stateside.

He told evertontv: "We really are winning a lot of friends over here. There have been a few conferences, there have been a lot of talks and chats and Tim Howard doesn't do any harm does he!

"I think we are known as a friendly club, a family club, and everywhere we go, hopefully, we are not only building up the Everton legend but the Roberto Martinez legend.

"He really has made a lot friends on this trip and I think it's fair to say that he has been available for anyone and everyone who wants to talk Everton because he is in love with the football club."

Mr Kenwright also said he believed Everton were unfortunate to lose to Madrid.

He added: "I think we had them very worried in the last 25 minutes.

"I am really depressed because I don't know why that goal was disallowed and of course as so often happens in football they go down the other end and it's 2-0."

Just two more warm-up games and less than a fortnight remain before the Blues' Spanish boss ushers his troops in to battle at Norwich City.

Mr Kenwright added: "He is a man who will work 24/7 to build up what we are all about and it's very warming and great to see.

"The Premier League season is not far away now, it's less than two weeks and I am really looking forward to it."
