Blues Reach Milk Cup Semi-Finals
Last-four spot secured after a 6-1 win over County Armagh.
Everton Under-15s are safely through to the Milk Cup semi-finals after thrashing County Armagh 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Nathan Broadhead was the star of the show in Northern Ireland, scoring a first-half hat-trick to ensure the Blues finish the group stages with maximum points following the victories over Swindon Town and Dundalk earlier this week.
Coach Sean Lundon told evertonfc.com: “We made a poor start and a mistake from the goalkeeper saw us go 1-0 down.
“But we kept patient, we opened them up quite a lot and our finishing was a lot better than it was earlier in the week. We were 4-1 up at half-time and comfortable after that.
“The first two matches [in Coleraine] were played on a small pitch and there was no real space to play. But that’s why we come here because it means you have to adapt and play a different type of football.
“Today’s surface [in Ballymoney] was a lot bigger and more like the ones we play on at home. That suited us and we were able to get the ball down a bit more.”
Everton will discover their semi-final opponents on Wednesday night once all the round-robin fixtures have been completed.
With three victories under their belt, Lundon is confident that Everton can maintain their good form in the knockout rounds.
He added: “I’ve been delighted with how the lads have performed so far. We don’t know who we are going to play yet but it’s all about how we approach it.
“If we play like we have today, hopefully that will be good enough to see us progress to the final.”
