What The Papers Say - 30 July

The views on this page are taken from the local and national media and do not necessarily reflect the views of Everton.

Sylvain Distin is the main subject of Tuesday’s local papers.

Talking to the Liverpool Echo, Frenchman Distin expresses his confidence that the young talents in Everton’s squad have the potential and ability to break into the first-team this season.

The 35-year-old defender has also welcomed the arrivals of Antolin Alcaraz and Arouna Kone.

One of the aforementioned fledgling Blues, John Stones, also features in the Echo. The former Barnsley defender has been speaking about how he hopes to impress on the Club’s pre-season tour to America.

Everton coverage in the national newspapers is sparse.

The Daily Express reports that David Moyes arrives back from Manchester United’s pre-season tour today ready to step up his summer transfer business. The Old Trafford boss is expected to decide whether to make an improved offer for Blues full-back Leighton Baines.

Another tabloid newspaper claims that Moyes could turn his interest to Blues midfielder Marouane Fellaini after failing to land Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas.
