Blues Begin Milk Cup Campaign
Under-15s begin with wins over Swindon and Dundalk.
Everton Under-15s are on the verge of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Milk Cup after securing back-to-back victories in their opening two days at the tournament.
Beaten finalists 12 months ago, the young Blues are currently in Northern Ireland aiming to regain a title they have won three times in the last five years.
Sean Lundon's side secured a 1-0 win over Swindon Town in their opening group game on Monday afternoon courtesy of Nathan Holland’s goal just before half-time.
That result was followed up with a 3-0 thumping of Dundalk on Tuesday in Coleraine. Tom Davies, Jack Bainbridge and Anthony Evans were all on the scoresheet for the Toffees.
Everton face County Armagh in their final round-robin fixture on Wednesday – and a win should result in qualification to the next stage of the competition.
“The lads have performed well so far," said Lundon. "Hopefully we can get the win and improve our goal difference so we advance to the semi-finals.”
Twenty teams are split into five groups of four, with the four best group winners progressing to the knockout stages of competition. The semi-finals are due to take place on Thursday before a final on Friday.
