Tuesday’s newspapers are linking Everton with a move for Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgium international recently rejected the chance to join Norwich City and the Blues are now reported to be interested in bringing the 24-year-old to Goodison Park, according to The Times and The Daily Mail.
The Daily Mirror have run a story claiming that Nikica Jelavic will have discussions with manager Roberto Martinez over his future following the arrival of fellow striker Arouna Kone.
Jelavic’s name is also mentioned in the Liverpool Echo, in which Blues teammate Leon Osman says the Croatian international will be spurred on to rediscover his goalscoring touch now there is extra competition for places.
Yesterday’s announcement of Everton’s squad numbers for the 2013/14 season is also covered in the Echo .
Almost every national newspaper report on Toni Duggan’s contribution for England's Women in their 1-1 draw with Russia last night. The Everton Ladies striker netted a last-minute equaliser to keep alive the Lionesses’ hopes of qualification to the knock-out round.
In the Daily Star, Duggan says she hardly felt like celebrating as it spared England an early exit, while the Daily Mail and The Independent both write that her goal has handed England a ‘lifeline’.
Elsewhere, The Daily Mirror and The Daily Telegraph report that Marouane Fellaini is attracting interest from Manchester United and could be seen as an alternative option should David Moyes fail to land Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
