Leighton Baines is again the focus of attention in Saturday's newspapers following reports of a bid from Manchester United.

The Daily Mirror claim Blues chairman Bill Kenwright has been 'left seething' by former manager David Moyes' attempts to poach the full-back.

The story also says Mr Kenwright is 'braced for a bitter tug-of-war' over Baines and that he is 'determined to fight tooth and nail' to keep the defender at Goodison Park.

The Guardian report that Everton are desperate to keep the left-back on Merseyside with Manchester United expected to return imminently with a fresh bid.

Elsewhere, the Independent and the Times are among the newspapers suggesting United's Patrice Evra is considering a switch back to Monaco following the Red Devils' apparent move for Baines.

Potential incomings are also discussed in the Daily Mirror, with Roberto Martinez tipped to hijack Newcastle's speculated raid for £15million-rated Saint-Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 24-year-old Gabon international is also said to be wanted by Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.

The Mirror also claims Wigan's Arouna Kone is 'Everton-bound', while Birmingham's England Under-21 winger Nathan Redmond remains a target.

In the Liverpool Echo, Bill Kenwright gives an exclusive interview and discusses how Roberto Martinez has fallen in love with the Blues.

The same paper also asked 'tactics blogger' Nic Davies to analyse Baines' stats for 2012/13.

The article reveals the England man created a quarter of Everton's chances last season, one of many reasons they describe him as 'one of the world's best attacking defenders'.
