Everton are unlikely to pursue any interest in Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady, according to Wednesday’s Liverpool Echo.
The Republic of Ireland international had been linked with a move to Merseyside earlier this week but the Blues are now claimed to be exploring alternative options. Japanese playmaker Keisuke Honda’s name is again mentioned, while recruiting a defender and a goalkeeper are said to be Roberto Martinez’s priorities.
In the same article, former Blues boss Howard Kendall believes that Everton fans will enjoy watching the attractive style of football that Martinez will implement next season.
A move for Honda is also touted in the Daily Mail. The 27-year-old is being considered as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini should the Belgian depart Everton this summer.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror is reporting that Wigan striker Arouna Kone has rebuffed the chance to join Norwich City and Swansea City in preference of a switch to Goodison Park. The Ivory Coast international, who is also a target for West Brom, is believed to have a £6.5million release clause in his contract. The same story also features in the Daily Mail.
