What The Papers Say - 24 June

The views on this page are taken from the local and national media and do not necessarily reflect the views of Everton.

Monday's Daily Mail reports that Norwich are rivalling Everton's apparent interest in Wigan striker Arouna Kone. The Ivorian forward is reported to have a £5m buy-out clause in his contract and the Mail says Liverpool, Hull and Crystal Palace are all interested.

The Echo also reports on Kone, saying the 29-year-old has declared that he doesn't want to play in the Championship next season.

The local paper also has a match report from England Under-20s game against Iraq which featured three Everton youngsters.

The Daily Express mentions Everton as being linked with Swansea defender Ashley Williams, while north of the border, the Scotsman says Aidan McGeady is heading to Goodison for £4m from Spartak Moscow.

william brierlyI hope the McGeady rumour is wrong as Celtic fans don't rate him in any way

Barrie MillerTotally agree, if we are short of money (as usual) then Honda is a much better option and we already have good wide players.
