Another glance back at a positive opening day for the Blues.
Following Wednesday's announcement of the 2013/14 Barclays Premier League fixtures, evertonfc.com looks back at another memorable opening day encounter...
Everton 2-1 Watford - 19 August 2006
The Blues recorded their first opening day home victory in 10 years with a 2-1 victory over Championship play-off winners Watford.
New summer signing Andy Johnson was handed a debut following his £8.6million move from Crystal Palace and he made an instant impact.
The England international opened the scoring 15 minutes into his first start; playing a neat one-two with James Beattie before firing high past Ben Foster. Mikel Arteta then sealed the points with eight minutes left from the spot after the Blues were awarded a contentious penalty.
Watford's Damien Francis replied for the Hornets in stoppage time but it was scant consolation.
