What The Papers Say - 14 June

The views on this page are taken from the local and national media and do not necessarily reflect the views of Everton.

Friday’s newspapers are dominated by contract talks and possible new signings at Goodison Park.

News that Everton manager Roberto Martinez is looking to offer Leighton Baines a new contract features heavily in the nationals.

The Daily Telegraph, Daily Mirror, Daily Star and the Liverpool Echo all claim that the club are keen to extend the England international's career at Goodison Park.

The Daily Star also reports that David Moyes is plotting another move for one of his former players with Marouane Fellaini linked with a transfer.

There is also speculation of a new signing coming into Goodison Park with the Liverpool Echo and The Guardian both suggesting that ex-Wigan defender Antolin Alcaraz is already in talks with the Blues.

The Echo also profile five of Everton’s youngsters who will be taking part in the FIFA Under 20 World Cup, a tournament that kicks off in Turkey a week today.

And finally, the Daily Mail report that former Everton loan signing Rosyton Drenthe is closing in on a move to Championship side Reading on a three-year contract.

Colin Hafezwhy do we need another defender? Alcaraz, we have Duffy and Hettinger!

thomas partingtonNot seen much of Shane Duffy and Heitinga doesnt seem to happy here plus i think he's had a terrible season. If we were to go for another centre back i would like Lescott back, not Alcaraz.

Joanna OldhamGood luck to Royston if he comes to play at Reading. He is a very talented player and hopefully has grown up a bit.
