Ossie's England Injury Woe
Midfielder disappointed to miss end of season friendlies.
Leon Osman admits learning he would miss England's glamour friendly in Brazil was a bitter pill to swallow.
The midfielder, 32, is out of the game because of a knee injury.
The Three Lions are set to travel to Rio de Janeiro on 2 June for their first outing in the South American country since a famous win in 1984.
That trip follows a home friendly against Republic of Ireland on 29 May.
But while Blues teammates Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines are likely to be involved, midfielder Osman will sit out both games due to the same problem which cost him a final day appearance at Chelsea.
"It's disappointing to miss out but if you're injured, you're injured and there's not much you can really do about it," the Academy product told evertontv.
"The timing of the injury is probably a bit off but it's one of those disappointing things in football you have to live with and learn to get over."
Osman's form over the 2012/13 campaign led to him signing a new two-year deal with Everton earlier this week, tying him to Goodison Park until 2015.
He expects England to impress over their two upcoming outings and hopes to back in the frame for important World Cup qualifiers later in the year.
"The team's terrific in the way they play football," he said. "I expect them to do well.”
