Television project can help Chinese youth game expand, says Ray.

Former Everton Academy Manager Ray Hall believes the Club’s involvement in Football Dream can help boost the long-term prospects of the youth game in China.

Hall and Blues legend Graeme Sharp returned to the country last week to begin filming on the latest phase of the sports entertainment show, which is set to be broadcast across China later in the year.

The duo's involvement follows on from a six-city tour of the country last summer, a trip during which they selected 60 players to attend this week's boot camp in Beijing.

That 60 has now been reduced with the chosen players set to head west to train at either Everton or Ajax’s famed academy.

"It's been our responsibility to take care of what's been happening on the football side - to advise, come up with the drills and put the players through their paces," explained Hall.

"Ultimately our role has been to assess the players throughout this week and go through various selection processes to end up with the 16 players who will visit us at Everton.

"To that end, I think the exposure to a club in the English Premier League is a massive bonus to Football Dream. Every young footballer aspires to play in our league and going to Finch Farm, working with our Academy coaches and seeing what we do will be an experience these boys will never forget. And I'm sure it will improve them too.

"We're working with the players we selected from the six cities we visited last year so the standard has naturally been higher, and as the programme progresses I expected the standard to go up and up again.

"The programme is eventually going to be broadcast across China and hopefully young players across all the provinces will see what we've done here, see the opportunity these boys have been given and think 'why can't that be me?'.

"If that gets lads across the country and out in the farthest provinces playing football, and if they learn about the commitment, standards and hard work we expect at Everton from watching the show, it can only be a good thing."
