What The Papers Say - 5 May

Summaries and links to the key Everton paper talk.

What The Papers Say - 5 May

In The Independent on Sunday there's an interview with Phil Jagielka in which he talks about playing his 500th club game and helping Everton take 'that extra step'.

The paper also carries quotes similar to most of its fellow Sunday publications with Brendan Rogers insisting his Liverpool side remain the top team on Merseyside, despite them being set to finish behind Everton for a second successive season.

The Daily Star Sunday puts a different spin on things, saying Everton want to spoil Jamie Carragher's final Merseyside derby with an historic Anfield win.

The Star also says Joleon Lescott is keen on a return to Goodison Park if David Moyes remains in charge.

In the Sunday People claims Everton will consider a move for Callum McManaman if his current side Wigan are relegated from the Premier League.

The Observer's Daniel Taylor column asks whether David Moyes will 'stay or go' at the end of the season, before examining the background to the manager's decision.

The Daily Express points out it would be 76 years since Everton have finished above Liverpool twice in a row, describing the phenomenon as an 'epic return to Dixieland'.

The other Sunday tabloid has Everton linked with a move for 'Denmark hitman' Andreas Cornelius, a 20 year-old FC Copenhagen striker who has scored 20 goals this term.

David TaylorSurely DM will let us know before the last home game what his intentions are. It would be a sad way to depart without a proper send off. Lets hope he stays
