What The Papers Say - 3 May
Distin, Baines and Downing all have their say on Sunday's derby.
With the Merseyside derby now just two days away, great emphasis has been placed on the game in the local media.
The Liverpool Echo runs an in-depth interview with Sylvain Distin who says that he has ‘learned a lot’ from the FA Cup semi-final defeat to the Reds last season.
In a separate feature inside the Echo, Distin also insists that Marouane Fellaini’s long-term future could still be at Goodison Park.
Within the Liverpool pages of the Echo, Stewart Downing is quoted as saying that the home side will have the edge over Everton given the Blues’ run of results at Anfield.
In the national press, the Daily Mail and the Daily Mirror have spoken to Leighton Baines who says it would ‘mean a lot’ to those connected with Everton if they are to beat Liverpool on Sunday and finish above them in the Premier League table.
The Daily Mail also reports that Liverpool fans in the Kop on Sunday will form a mosaic spelling the words ‘thanks’ to show their gratitude to Everton for the support offered following the Hillsborough tragedy.
