Mosaic At Merseyside Derby
Liverpool fans to thank Everton for Hillsborough support.
Liverpool fans will thank Everton for the support offered to families of Hillsborough victims with a special mosaic at Sunday's Merseyside derby.
Fans in the Kop will be asked to display cards forming a mosaic spelling the word 'thanks' shortly before kick off.
Everton have supported the families of the 96 since the tragedy occurred 24 years ago.
The idea for the tribute came from Liverpool journalist Brian Reade, the Daily Mirror columnist who lead his paper's campaign for justice for the families.
At last month's Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield a chant of 'Merseyside' rang out as Everton chairman Bill Kenwright gave an emotional reading.
An Everton spokesman said: "We have always stood beside those affected by the Hillsborough tragedy and backed their quest for justice, and we will continue to do so."
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre said: "I want to take the opportunity to thank Bill Kenwright and Everton fans for their continued support for the families and victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
"It is the coming together of the families, supporters and the city that has made the huge breakthroughs of the last 12 months possible.
"The unity of both clubs and both sets of supporters when it's most needed that make our relationship so unique."
