The focus in the local media has now switched to Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
In the Liverpool Echo, Phil Jagielka explains that he is desperate to hand David Moyes his first victory at Anfield. The central defender says “we’d all love to go there and perform the way we have for most of the season and come out on the right side.”
Jagielka’s defensive colleague Seamus Coleman also features in the Echo, with the right-back revealing that he has been spurred on to top form by the fear of losing his place to fit-again Tony Hibbert, who was named in the matchday squad for the first time since December against Fulham at the weekend.
The Echo also include quotes from Leighton Baines who believes that there should have been more Everton players named in the PFA team of the year.
In the national newspapers, Nikica Jelavic is linked with a summer transfer to West Ham United. This story is included in the Daily Mirror and the Daily Telegraph.
