What The Papers Say - 29 April
Jagielka, Baines and Moyes feature in Monday's papers.
Monday’s papers include more reaction from the weekend victory over Fulham.
The Liverpool Echo leads with quotes from Phil Jagielka, who says Steven Pienaar is making a timely return to form with three crucial Premier League fixtures to play.
Leighton Baines is also interviewed in the Echo, with the left-back claiming he is pleased to be facing a Luis Suarez-less Liverpool in next Sunday’s Merseyside derby.
The England defender also believes that Everton remain in the Europa League hunt, while there is coverage from last night’s PFA Awards where it was announced that Baines had been named in the PFA team of the year.
The Echo’s match report, written by Greg O’Keeffe, says Everton ‘rediscovered their energy levels’ against the Cottagers following the defeat at the Stadium of Light seven days earlier.
The focus in the Daily Express and Daily Mirror is David Moyes’ post-match quotes about how Everton would be in an even better position in the Premier League table had they had a striker with 15 to 20 goals to his name this season.
