Steven Pienaar says Seamus Coleman deserves as much credit as him for helping Everton overcome Fulham.

The South African grabbed the headlines after scoring the only goal in Everton's 11th home league win of the season on Saturday.

But the midfielder's 16th-minute strike came about following the efforts of the Republic of Ireland international, who provided a pinpoint assist from the right flank.

"It was on a plate," Pienaar told evertontv. "It was a good team goal and with the build up, Seamus deserves all the credit with the pass.

"I didn't expect it to come but you are always happy to help the team get maximum points.”

David Moyes was also full of praise for Coleman, who he believes is maturing with every single match.

The 24-year-old was recently named Everton’s player of the month for March following a string of impressive performances.

“He’s a good player Seamus and he has improved,” explained Moyes. “The biggest thing about Seamus is that he is a great boy to work with. He is someone who has no edge to him because of his background.

“He played in the Irish league and it’s a big step up to come and play in the Premier League. He is thankful for everything he gets and he plays that way.

“He takes it really seriously and wants to do well. He’s got good role models in Phil Neville and Tony Hibbert."

Meanwhile, Pienaar insists Everton’s performance against Fulham highlights that the players still consider European qualification as a realistic target.

“There's still a lot to play for,” he added. “We have to keep going because we don't have any control over the teams above us. All we control is our own performance.

"Today was important and we just have to keep on going until the last day of the season and see what will happen. It was a good result for us and we keep on putting the pressure on the guys above us."
