Wednesday’s newspapers have started to look ahead to Everton’s weekend match with Fulham at Goodison Park.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Darron Gibson should be fit enough to take his place in midfield against the Cottagers despite limping off at half-time during last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Sunderland. The article also references the fact that Gibson may require surgery in the summer to cure a troublesome thigh complaint.
Also in the Echo is an interview with Tim Howard, who says that the players can’t feel sorry for themselves following the reverse at the Stadium of Light. The American also believes Dimitar Berbatov is a player Everton will need to keep close tabs on when they entertain Fulham in three days’ time.
In the national newspapers, the Daily Mirror is linking Leighton Baines with a close-season transfer to Manchester United as the newly-crowned Champions look to stay ahead of their rivals with a summer spending spree.
