Osman Misses Arsenal Clash
Barkley replaces England international in only change from QPR.
Leon Osman will not be involved in this evening’s fixture against Arsenal.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday morning, manager David Moyes explained that he needed to assess a number of ‘knocks and bruises’ following the weekend win over Queens Park Rangers.
Osman had featured in all of Everton’s previous 32 Premier League matches this season – but is unavailable for the crunch clash against the third-placed Gunners.
The midfielder is replaced by Ross Barkley, who is named in Moyes’ starting line-up for just the second time this term.
Otherwise, there are no other changes to the Everton side from the one named in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Rangers.
In-form Victor Anichebe leads the attack, with Kevin Mirallas, Steven Pienaar and Marouane Fellaini providing support from midfield.
Barkley is expected to play alongside Darron Gibson in the central areas, while Tim Howard is marshalled by a defence consisting of Leighton Baines, Sylvain Distin, Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman.
Everton: Howard, Baines, Gibson, Jagielka, Mirallas, Distin, Barkley, Pienaar, Coleman, Fellaini, Anichebe (Subs: Mucha, Heitinga, Jelavic, Oviedo, Naismith, Hitzlsperger, Neville)
