Moyes: We Matched Arsenal
Boss pleased with point and Ross Barkley's performance.
David Moyes believes Everton matched Arsenal on Tuesday evening and were well worthy of their point at the Emirates Stadium.
The Blues extended their unbeaten run to four matches and moved just two points off the Champions League qualification positions with a scoreless draw in north London.
“To come to the Emirates at any time and get a point is a good result,” said Moyes. “Obviously we wanted the three to try and keep moving forward but we are not too disappointed.
“I thought we gave as good as we got. Arsenal have got some great game-winning players but I thought we played very well. The two boys in the middle of the park, Felli and Gibbo, were exceptional.
“This time of year we are starting to get two or three clean sheets and that gives you a chance of winning. We had the odd chance [to score] and maybe we could have gone away with three points.
“Overall I was delighted with the performance and it was a well-deserved point.”
Moyes also applauded the performance of teenager Ross Barkley who came close to scoring what would have been a match-winning goal in just his second start of the season.
However, despite the impressive display from the fledgling midfielder, the Blues boss says that his development must not be rushed.
“It was a good game for Ross and we just need to bring him along at his own pace,” Moyes added.
“There’s an awful lot of folk expecting big things from him but he is not quite ready for that [expectation] yet, so I have to take it bit by bit.”
