Magic Numbers: Arsenal

Our stats preview ahead of Tuesday's game at the Emirates.

Magic Numbers: Arsenal

Everton head to Arsenal on Tuesday evening for a game that could prove pivotal to both side's hopes of European football.

A big three points are on offer at the Emirates - and a victory would put the Blues just a point behind the third-place Gunners and ahead of two other London sides, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Here we preview the midweek encounter with the help of stats, facts and numbers…

11 Matches since Everton last recorded a victory over the Gunners, courtesy of Andy Johnson’s last-minute winner at Goodison in March 2007.

13 Points for Everton in their past five league matches, equalling the Toffees' best run since winning six successive league games in October and November 2002.

15 Minutes left in the game when the referee abandoned our match at Arsenal in November 1904 due to fog. The Toffees were leading 3-1 and that premature finish cost them the league title. We lost the replayed fixture 2-1 and Newcastle pipped us to the title by a single point!

Andrei Kanchelskis was in target in the Blues' win at Highbury in 1996.Andrei Kanchelskis was in target in the Blues' win at Highbury in 1996.

17 Years since the Blues last won at Arsenal – a 2-1 victory at Highbury in January 1996.

27 Years since the Toffees were last unbeaten against Arsenal and Spurs in the same league campaign. In 1985/86 we won all four games against the north London pairing.  So far this season we have taken four points from Spurs and drawn with Arsenal at Goodison.

150 Everton appearances for Sylvain Distin should the French defender appear on Tuesday.

200 Appearances in all competitions for Steven Pienaar in English football if the South African plays on Tuesday. The midfielder has played 181 games for the Toffees and 18 for Spurs, scoring 23 goals in total.

300 Premier League appearances for Tim Howard should the American appear at the Emirates. The keeper made 70 outings for Manchester United and is on 229 for Everton.

599 Away league wins for Everton, of which 16 have been at Arsenal.
