What The Papers Say - 5 April
A round-up of Friday's local and national newspapers.
Kevin Mirallas and David Moyes feature in Friday’s local and national newspapers.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Mirallas is facing a fight to be fit for Sunday’s trip to White Hart Lane. The Belgian scored the only goal in the win over Stoke City last weekend, before being forced off with a groin injury 10 minutes from time.
Also in the Liverpool Echo, Blues legend Howard Kendall says it is very dangerous to look at fixtures and try to plot where Everton will pick up or possibly drop points during the season run-in. Kendall also believes Everton play Tottenham this weekend at an advantageous time due to the London club’s midweek Europa League clash against Basel.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims that German outfit FC Schalke want to recruit Moyes as their manager during the summer. The Bundesliga club are looking for a top European coach after installing Jens Keller on a short-term basis when they sacked Huub Stevens in December. Roberto Di Matteo is also linked with the job.
Elsewhere, the Daily Mirror says that should Moyes leave Goodison Park at the end of the season then Celtic manager Neil Lennon would be a potential candidate to replace the Scot.
