Distin Sinks His Former Club
Re-live the 2-1 victory over Manchester City from May 2011.
A rare goal from Sylvain Distin helped Everton come from behind to take all three points against Manchester City at Goodison Park two seasons ago.
The Frenchman’s delight was clear for all to see as he headed the Blues level 10 minutes into the second half after his former club had taken a deserved lead through Yaya Toure’s 28th-minute strike.
Distin’s goal sparked a sense of belief around Goodison and the turnaround was complete seven minutes later.
Despite the sizeable height difference, Leon Osman towered above Vincent Kompany to head Everton in front – a lead that David Moyes’ side comfortably held onto for the final 20 minutes.
The Blues could have even added a third late on but Joe Hart made an important block at his near post to thwart Jermaine Beckford.
Everton followed up this result with another home victory against Chelsea on the final day of the season to secure a seventh place finish.
