Coleman Wants Wembley For Fans
Right-back desperate to avenge last year’s semi-final loss.
Seamus Coleman
Seamus Coleman says Everton are determined to secure a Wembley return – and a chance to make amends to the fans.
The Blues take on Wigan at Goodison Park this Saturday, with a place in the last four at the national stadium on offer.
If triumphant against the Latics, it would present the Blues with a fourth Wembley appearance in as many seasons - but their last visit is one the Blues hope to avenge.
On a bittersweet afternoon in London, Nikica Jelavic put David Moyes' side ahead against Liverpool, only for two second-half goals to dump Everton out of the competition.
Republic of Ireland international Coleman emerged from the bench at 1-1 that sunny afternoon and explained why the squad hope to take the supporters back to the capital this time around.
He told evertontv: "It was a disappointing day for everyone involved and it took a while for us to get out of our system.
"Hopefully we can get past Wigan on Saturday to get back there for the fans and make it a good year.
"The way we've been going so far, it's been one game at a time. But before the Oldham game, we knew the draw was a home tie so it was a big incentive. Thankfully we got through okay.
"This club is the fans' life and they'd give anything to see us win a trophy, just like we would. But we have to be professional about it. Anything can happen in the cups - look at Bradford in the League Cup knocking big teams out.
"We have to be on guard all the time. First and foremost, we need to do a professional job this week in training and prepare right for the game against Wigan."
Tickets for Saturday's 12.45pm kick-off are still available.
Simply visit the Goodison Park Box Office, call 0871 663 1878 or click here to secure your seat.
Alternatively you can buy your ticket from the Liverpool city centre ticket outlets at Everton Two or the TicketQuarter in Queen Square.
